The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was formed on April 23rd 1968, with the amalgamation of the four English Fusilier Regiments; The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers, The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) and The Lancashire Fusiliers, creating the first ‘large infantry regiment’. In 1829, King William IV ordered the white plumes taken from the French at the Battle of St Lucia in 1778, to be tinted with a red tip, making the plume red over white. Recognised today as the distinctive RRF Hackle. The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers motto is “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (Evil be to him who evil thinks).
The ‘Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Tartan’ is the only officially registered tartan in the world, to pay respect to The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. And is fully endorsed by The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
